Rudyard Kipling wrote a poem accompanying the Elephant’s Child in his Just So Stories opening with:
I keep six honest serving-men
(They taught me all I knew)
Their names are What and Why and When
And How and Where and Who
These 5 Ws and 1 H used to be used in journalism. I think that they are still incredibly useful questions to ask yourself in business and life in general – whenever we interact with anyone, be it a client, a loved one, a boss or anyone else, without a vaguest idea of what we want, then our outcome will be vague.
Use Kipling’s Six Serving Men to ask yourself what you want and what is the situation you are in now.
